Well, the war's on.
My prayers go out to our leaders -- President Bush, Congress, the generals on the battlefield.... May they abide in the reverence of Almighty God, which is the beginning of wisdom. May God grant them a spirit of humility; as it is written, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Give them ears to hear Your voice, O Lord. In this hour, may Your sovereign will be accomplished on earth as it is in heaven. Have mercy on our nation, and upon our soldiers who are on the field of battle. Protect them, and carry us through the days to come with as little bloodshed as possible.
For the innocents of Iraq, I ask for your protection. Order things, Lord, so that they might be kept from harm. Preserve them -- You are not willing that any should perish, but that all should have eternal life.
Father, stir believers everywhere to prayer and repentance. When Your people humble themselves, pray, seek Your face, and turn from wickedness, You have promised to hear from heaven and bring healing to this sin-sick world. Help us, help me to grasp that promise, to keep it close to my heart each day, so that I can join the saints in fervent prayer for this moment in history.
Finally, Lord, let there be a speedy end to this conflict. And I pray that the world will be a safer, more peaceful place on the other side.
May Your Name be glorified in all the earth!

With all that's going on in the world right now, this is a petty thing to put in my blog. But I just can't let it go.
The MonT-SteR is a devoted Mac user. I started using Macs at the tender age of 12 (1984) at Braddock Middle School in Cumberland, MD, my beloved home town. Using a first-generation drawing tablet and MacPaint, I created a completely digital comic strip in the Mac lab for the school newspaper. By that time, I had used a Sinclair ZX81, a Radio Shack TRS-80 (affectionately known as the "Trash Eighty"), a Commodore 64, a TI-99, as well as those early (and clunky) IBM PC's. The Mac blew everything else away -- I was amazed at how Apple's funky little box empowered me to create. And so I was hooked. I have been an unapologetic Mac fanatic ever since (much to the chagrin of my Uncle Mark, who works for IBM).
As much disdain as I have for modern clunky PC's and the viral code that infects them (some call it "Windows"), I may just end up switching platforms. The reason? Former Vice President Al Gore, self-proclaimed inventor of the Internet and purveyor of other falsehoods, was welcomed today by Steve Jobs to Apple's board of directors.
EWWWW!
While I don't bear Mr. Gore any ill will, I certainly feel that he disgraced himself during the 2000 presidential campaign and the ensuing legal tug of war over the White House. His disdain for telling the truth was demonstrable -- he said whatever he thought would enable him to retain/enhance his power. Remember his first debate with Dubya, when he told that ridiculous story about a girl in Florida who had to stand in school all day because the school couldn't afford to buy more chairs? The next day the news wires were replete with stories that torpedoed Gore's little fabrication. Did he issue a retraction, you ask? What, and admit he LIED?!?!?
Moreover, when President Clinton was taking heat for his ignominious and tawdry behavior with "that woman, Ms. Lewinsky," Mr. Gore defended him as one of the greatest presidents ever. And let's not forget Gore's greasy line about "no controlling legal authority" when he got in legal trouble for all those Democrat fundraisers in Buddhist temples.
Okay, okay, I admit that Al Gore's polluted political career gets The MonT-SteR's hackles raised. In all honesty, I'm not really planning to switch computer platforms just because Gore is on Apple's board now. That was just a bit of melodrama. The truth is that Al Gore has every right to join the troops at One Infinite Loop in Cupertino. I sure prefer him there as opposed to, say, the Oval Office....
