Christian apologetics
  • a website devoted to Alvin Plantinga, one of the foremost Christian philosophers on the scene today.
  • The Ankerberg Theological Research Institute does a great job of addressing leading issues relating to a horde of topics on Christianity.
  • Center for Reformed Theology and Apologetics
  • Ravi Zacharias is probably my favorite Christian speaker. he bravely strides onto university campuses that are traditionally hostile to Christianity and makes a clear, compelling, and impassioned case for Christian theism.
  • young earth creationists are going to label me a heretic for putting this link up. Reasons to Believe is headed up by Hugh Ross, a Christian astronomer who believes that the Big Bang was the beginning of the universe and posits that the earth and the universe are old -- all based upon both scriptural and scientific evidence. i think he makes some compelling arguments. if he can persuade me on a couple of remaining (and troublesome) issues, i'll be prepared to embrace his position.
  • Tektonics Apologetic Ministries is an apologetics web site with a bit of an edge (and, unfortunately, bad design). but it sports a great little tutorial on logical fallacies.
  • William Lane Craig is another one of my favorite Christian apologists. he has to be one of the smartest people on the planet.

  • 250Free hosts The MonT-SteR REPORT for a nominal fee. i'm glad to have found their service.
  • The Sound Press is a business started by my very good friend, Adam Smith. it's a multi-media company and his personal record label all wrapped into one.
  • Sound Press Design is the web publishing arm of Adam's business. if you need a quality commercial web site for an excellent price, Adam is your guy. if you need a place to host that site, Adam's your guy. he's as professional as can be and will provide you with excellent customer service.
  • Worship@Work is Adam's latest CD.
  • go check out Adam's latest single. it's a Christian worship song about God as a warrior, and it packs a lot of punch. WARNING: stodgy, traditionalist sensibilities will be offended.

news

  • Agape Press
  • Ananova
  • Christian Broadcasting Network
  • The Cleveland Plain Dealer -- this link is here because i lived most of 1990-1998 in Cleveland, OH. during that time, i discovered that MonT-SteRs are much happier in climes where winters are not so long and dadburned dreary. if you are one of those people who involuntarily cowers in the fetal position when you go too long without sunlight, Cleveland is definitely not the place to live between November and May.
  • CNN. hey, look! the little network that could has its own website!
  • CrossWalk is a compendium of Christian newswires.
  • the Cumberland Times-News is my hometown's local newspaper.
  • The Drudge Report has the scoop and, most often, the angle that larger media outlets are prone to ignore. this the The MonT-SteR's first stop when he is "news shopping" (as my wife derisively calls it).
  • FOXNews. They report, you decide. Fair and balanced news coverage (not to hear Al Franken tell it...).
  • MSNBC
  • National Review -- the magazine for arch-conservatives.
  • The New Republic -- the magazine for arch-liberals.
  • NewsMax gives you an ardently conservative perspective on the news.
  • The New York Times. the old gray lady is showing her age (and, if you ask me, her left-wing hysteria). nevertheless, ya gotta have some respect for the institution that has given us "all the news that's fit to print" for all these years.
  • The Wall Street Jornal's Opinion Journal.
  • The Virginian-Pilot is the local newspaper for the Tidewater area of Virginia.
  • World Magazine -- a distinguished, responsible, and hard-hitting evangelical Christian periodical.

politics

that's good preachin'

this section is a little different, because it contains links to mp3 recordings of sermons that i think are worth a hear.
